If you’re planning a trip to Orlando and want to stay in a vacation rental near Disney, at some point you’re going to face this question: Champions Gate or Windsor Hills? Both are popular options, both have pools and resort amenities, and both are within 15 minutes of the parks. But they’re not the same.
Here’s a straight comparison so you can decide without overthinking it.
Windsor Hills sits on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, about 3 to 5 minutes by car from the Walt Disney World entrance. It’s hard to get closer without actually sleeping inside the park.
Champions Gate is in the Davenport area, about 10 to 15 minutes from Disney. The distance isn’t dramatic, but you’ll feel it if you’re going back and forth every day. On the other hand, it’s closer to the Champions Gate Golf Resort, has better access to I-4, and traffic in that area is generally easier to deal with than the US-192 corridor.
For families whose whole trip revolves around Disney: Windsor Hills wins on proximity. For groups mixing parks with golf, day trips to Tampa, or other stops around the area: Champions Gate is more convenient.
Windsor Hills is mostly 2 and 3-bedroom condos in multi-story buildings, with views of the resort pool or green areas. Good for groups of 4 to 8 people. Some units have private pool access, but the community pools are more typical.
Champions Gate has more variety. There are condos similar to Windsor Hills, but also 4 to 7-bedroom homes with private pools and full access to the resort’s Oasis Club, which includes a water slide pool, aquatic play area, restaurant, tennis court, and more. For larger groups, that difference is real.

The Oasis Club at Champions Gate has one of the most complete amenity complexes in the Orlando vacation rental market: lazy river pool, water slides, restaurant, poolside bar, gym, volleyball court, and a kids’ play zone. If the group plans to spend days at the resort on top of visiting parks, that adds real value.
Windsor Hills has a community pool, hot tub, tennis court, and game room. It works, it’s functional, but it doesn’t reach the level of a full resort.
If resort amenities are part of the trip plan, Champions Gate wins by a clear margin.
Windsor Hills tends to be cheaper per night, especially in 2-bedroom condos. The location near Disney is priced into the nightly rate, but amenity access is more limited.
Champions Gate runs higher for larger homes with private pools and Oasis Club access. But for groups of 8 or more splitting the cost, the price per person can end up comparable to — or less than — a hotel near the parks.
The question isn’t which one is cheaper in absolute terms. It’s how much you’re getting for what you pay.
